Permanent 30-40 hours/week position with a solo practitioner lawyer who has a business and real estate transaction practice in West Los Angeles. This busy desk requires conscientious attention.

Secretarial duties include:
* Word processing using Microsoft Word:
-Document creation and formatting
-Document editing with tracking/redlining function
-Charts and tables
-Correspondence
* Preparing comparisons using WorkShare
* Preparing and/or editing documents using Acrobat Pro X
*Using Outlook Express for email and contacts and to create PST folders
* Opening, maintaining, and closing client files
* Filing
*Bookkeeping, maintaining checkbooks, preparing bank deposits, paying bills
* Using Timeslips to entering time and expenses, prepare bills, and enter payments
*Communicating with suppliers and service providers
*Some client contact

Paralegal duties include:
*Entity formation, dissolution, and amendments
*Creating, updating, and maintaining corporate Minute Books
*Using Internet to locate information and forms
*Online document filings with the Secretary of State, Department of Corporations, Internal Revenue Service, and other government agencies
* Preparing and submitting documents to the Recorder's office
*Proofreading, including detailed checking of documents and agreements for cross references, definitions, numbering, and other internal consistencies
*Conducting legal and factual research using treatises, online resources, LexisNexis, Westlaw, and other databases
*Managing master calendar
*Occasional preparation and filing of court documents for commercial unlawful detainer actions

Skills/Qualifications:
Prior office experience required. Prior legal transactional experience during past two years desirable. Very strong Word skills, including formatting, footers, charts, and tables required. Ability to use Internet for factual research and filings essential.

Must be able to work independently on some projects but follow exacting directions with precision on others. Must be resourceful and conscientious. Attention to detail is indispensable. Skill, a positive attitude, and flexibility are valued and rewarded.
