Le Pain Quotidien Now Accepting Applications! (Calabasas, Encino, Studio City)
Rigged, Gigged, and Fried
Down here in Acadiana, many of us outdoorsmen display the skill sets passed down to us from generation to generation, courtesy of our Cajun roots. Our ingenious ancestors taught us to be able to live off the land, foraging and hunting some of the most demanding terrains that this country has to offer. Part of that necessity has created the tradition of frogging. From corner to corner of the Atchafalaya basin, frogs are hunted by hand, with little more than flashlights and the reflections from the moon to guide their way. Sometimes referred to as “gigging,” the hunting of frogs takes a sharp eye and a fast set of reflexes. Frog hunters set out in their boats with their flashlights panning the water, looking through the lilies for the pairs of eyes reflecting their lights. This is the most common way to spot the frogs, which time has proven to be GREAT to eat.
With the Louisiana season coming quickly to a close (April and May), Jimmy and his crew set out to make the most of the remaining frog season. It’s not uncommon for hunters to bring in multiple dozens of huge frogs in a single evening. Luckily for Jimmy, this hunt was no different. Raking in almost two dozen frogs alone, the hunt was successful to say the least. So with the Atchafalaya Basin reaching its flood stage, the Oilfield Camo team will have to hang up the rubber boots and wait until the re-opening of the frog season at the start of June. Thanks for the great shot, Jimmy! And KEEP DRILLING!!!
Lucas Boats a Big One
Here along the Gulf Coast, there is certainly no shortage of opportunities to throw out a line. Our numerous fundraising fishing tournaments offer the opportunity for us to enjoy a little time on the water that we might not have had otherwise, while trying to help our communities and those in need. The 18th Annual Louisiana Oilman’s Bass Invitational is one of these many opportunities.
Wearing his Oilfield Camo Weatherproof Jacket, Lucas Lipari wasn’t worried about the weather at the Louisiana Oilman’s Bass Invitational. Even though Louisiana is known for its REAL heat while on the water, for the invitational we saw conditions of 42 degrees with winds blowing at 20 knots, not uncommon for this time of year out at Toledo Bend Lake. “Good thing that jacket was in the truck!” Lucas told us the opening morning of the invitational.
Holding tough out there despite the piercing winds, Lucas landed his first catch of the tournament with a little help from his Oilfield Camo Weatherproof apparel! Great to hear from you Lucas! Keep the stories and photos coming! KEEP DRILLING!!!

If there’s one thing that we know, being members of the Oilfield Camo Nation, it’s that work almost always comes before recreation. Luckily, those hard days at the job make the time spent away all the better. We got a chance to hear about Elliot and his buddies’ chance to get away from the work world and spend some time deep in the Atchafalaya Basin.
Elliot, along with his friends Casey and Bron got the opportunity to head out to the houseboat, deep in the Atchafalaya Basin. For those not from the area, the Atchafalaya Basin is one of those areas untouched by the world around it. Bears, deer, bobcats, and many other prized game call the basin home.
While out for the weekend, Elliot and the crew decided to set out the catfish float lines. For as long as they’ve been here, the Cajuns who have called this area home have utilized these lines while living off the land. Letting them sit out over night, Elliot and the guys headed out early to check and see what they had snagged. After sorting through a couple of lines, catching only a couple of non-keepers, Elliot came up on one of their final lines. It was a good sign to feel some fight against the line when he reached into the muddy waters of the basin. With nothing but his bare hands and the line attached to the fighter at the other end, Elliot pulled in this HUGE catfish… definitely a keeper!
Even though the Cajuns have come a long way from having to live off the land for survival, we in Southwest Louisiana enjoy heading out and reliving our roots. This is as good an example as any of them. Congrats, Elliot, and thanks for the great shots! KEEP DRILLING!!!

Trophy of the Week Archive | Scott
For this week’s Trophy of the Week, Team Oilfield Camo has a very special guest appearance. If there is anyone who knows Real, Tough Hunting Apparel, it’s our good buddy Scott Bachmeier. Scott can regularly be found Rockin’ the Bakken up in the Dakota Wilderness. Whether he is tracking pheasant, stalking ‘yotes, or laying down trophy white tails, his gear has GOT to be tough! That’s why Scott made sure to grab his Waterproof Oilfield Camo Jacket before he hit the plains to thin out the nuisance that is the wild coyote population.
When Scott isn’t getting the most out of the great outdoors, he’s hosting his daily outdoor radio program, Dakota Prairie Outdoors Radio. Scott can be heard on K-FYR in the Great Northern Plains, covering everything from the hunting and fishing industry, to real life accounts of his very own hunting trips, Scott is ALWAYS on the cutting edge of not only what’s new, but what WORKS in the outdoor industry.
In addition to being a great region for hunting and wildlife, North Dakota’s Bakken Oil Formation is one of the fastest growing oil producing regions in the United States, outpacing its previous growth with each passing reporting period. The BOOM of the Bakken region has not only helped curb the regions unemployment, a phenomenon felt by a large swath of the country, but also helped to provide North Dakota with more than a BILLION DOLLAR budget SURPLUS! That gives a whole new meaning to Drilling=Jobs!
We would like to thank Scott for testing out the Oilfield Camo line in some of the nations premier hunting grounds!
