Position: mechanical engineer

Roles and key areas of responsibility
Product engineering, including technical calculations (MS Excel) design and analysis (ANSYS), conceptual and detailed product design, Review of design drawings and the preparation of technical documentation.
Prototype testing, including management of prototype manufacturing, design and development of the schemes, monitoring and assistance testing with testing, interpretation of results and documentation of the completed test to test.
Contacts with suppliers, technical assessment of the capabilities of the supplier and supplier registration submissions.
Working with suppliers to designs are practical, efficient, and manufacturable.
Technical inspection of vendor progress and resolution of technical problems that occur during the execution of the contract.
Project management and progress reporting to customers and business management.
Development of project documentation, including specifications, claims and procedures for materials, manufacture, Assembly, operation and maintenance.
Customer-oriented product specifications for design team guidance; make compliance with regulations and industry requirements; leading design and price point.
Managing the design process for authentication with independent authentication authorities, including design review, and qualification testing.

Reporting Structure
Reports: Engineering Manager
Working with: design team, composed of designers and technicians; suppliers
External relations: Clients, authentication authorities

Qualifications and experience
Experience in a similar design capacity engineering
Oil and gas experience is a plus
Trained at degree level or equivalent.

An important innovative technology company is looking for a principal and a Senior
Production engineer to join their team. These positions involve taking
responsibility for planning, managing, and delivering technical aspects of
production programs, and liaising with both internally and externally, R&D
Design, quality and production specialists. As a Principal/Senior
Production engineer, you will focus on the development of existing low volume
production units to improve productivity and meet cost, quality and
delivery targets for the significant volume ramp projections. In addition
supplier development constitutes a significant part of the roles,
along with the generation and maintenance of accurate cost models.

Main responsibilities;

-Providing a technical lead of production on new or changed product designs, that offer:
a link between the in-house design, R & T and production, in combination with supplier
component manufacture and Assembly.

-Support for vendor selection and supply chain development processed through
the evaluation and subsequent technical management of suppliers.

-Assisting production managers in improving existing activities; recording
new methods and processes.

-Research into the operational production problems and dealing with them in
a systematic, methodical manner.

-Preparation of production documentation.

-Adopt and implement ways to product costs.

-Working with design, other departments and through the supply chain for
"bottom-up" product cost, opportunities for cost reduction and keeps detailed volume cost model forecasts.

-Contacts with suppliers and customers, providing technical expertise as
Required.

-Research into latest production technologies to keep informed of the latest best
practice.

-Assist in the production of plant and workplace layouts to ensure that
the most effective sequence of operations is performed in production.

-Monitoring and analysis of the current product cost, generate and maintain
robust volume ramp models cost.

You must be an experienced Senior/Principal Manufacturing Engineer, preferably with a background in the car or aerospace industry. You must be experienced in producingmanufacturing strategies for new products. In addition, you need a proven record as a technical lead of production on new or changed product designs, a link between production and design, R T &. If this position involves contacts with production locations in the South Pacific, you must be willing to travel occasionally.

The role

My client is a global engineering, project and construction management services organisation looking to strengthen their T&D division with an experienced senior individual. The successful candidate will participate in the direction and strategy for the growing HVDC and FACTS engineering business supporting overall growth strategy of the T&D business unit. The successful candidate will be comfortable with leading HVDC and FACTS projects from design, feasibility through to operations support.


Responsibilities:

Providing engineering and technology leadership to a multi-disciplinary group of engineers, designers and technologists specialized in design of high voltage AC and DC transmission projects. Implement QA/QC processes to ensure high quality deliverablesManaging the process of project commitments (in accordance with project scope, schedule, budget and procedures) to ensure successful project completion.Resolving overall study/design/project execution issues, as required.Establishing and implementing improvements to existing methods, procedures and toolsets, including staff training and development in lead-edge technologies.Maintain on-going relationships with Clients of HVDC and FACTS projects.Represent the companyUndertake Business Development and proposal preparation as requiredDeveloping the HVDC and FACTS engineering group competencies with a long term perspective. Experience:
