Home CDL Info How to Get Trucking Jobs Types of Trucking Jobs Flatbed Trucking Jobs Jobs In Trucking Thursday, November 10. 2011 Flatbed Trucking Jobs Flatbed trucking jobs are considered by many drivers to be one of the most difficult jobs in the transportation industry. However, with persistence and the proper training, a flatbed truck driver will certainly appreciate the specialization offered with this career. Flatbed truck driving jobs offer a wonderful opportunity for employment as they are among the fastest growing branch in the transportation industry.

A flatbed truck is a very powerful vehicle that pulls a long, flat trailer with no top or sides. It is used in the hauling of cargo that is awkwardly shaped or too large to be put in an enclosed trailer. The cargo carried is not susceptible to bad weather conditions, and it is generally restrained by chains and large straps and covered by a tarp. Some of the items that are typically carried in flatbed trucking are construction equipment, lumber (processed or raw), or extremely large pieces of machinery.

An understanding of the items being transported should provide a truck driver with an understanding of the importance of flatbed truck driving jobs. The odd shapes and massive weight of the loads require a highly experienced driver behind the wheel. A flatbed driver must be experienced and ensure that his freight is always secure, because a small slip-up in poor weather could result in massive damages to equipment, himself, or to other drivers. A flatbed driver should also expect to consistently drive long routes. Many times these routes will even take the driver to neighboring countries like Canada or Mexico. The long hours will put additional stress on the driver, so he must be in the right mindset to handle the pressures involved in this vital sector of the trucking industry.

A driver who is interested in flatbed trucking jobs, should consider the following:

He must have significant experience in other branches of trucking before making the transition into flatbed hauling. This is a major requirement for flatbed trucking companies. It is virtually impossible for a driver to start his career driving a flatbed truck, but once he has some experience under his belt, these jobs can be easily attained.
Flatbed truck driving jobs will require several months of training. A driver will be taught how to secure and load large pieces of equipment, in addition to driving a heavy flatbed truck. This training is vital to ensure the safety of the equipment, the truck driver, and other drivers on the road.
A driver must have a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) to apply to become a flatbed truck driver. There are many privately run trucking schools which will help drivers learn the material required to pass the CDL test and help them find jobs. Even after passing the CDL exam, a driver still needs time and experience before a company will entrust him with a flatbed truck.
To land one of these jobs, a driver must have a good truck driving history. A bad record of traffic offences or accidents will result in companies not entrusting a driver with such strong responsibilities. Some flatbed companies are so determined to only have the best drivers that they will not even hire a driver who has been in an accident that was not his fault. If a driver wants to obtain one of these truck driving jobs, he must keep an impeccably clean driving record.
A driver also needs to fully understand the different regulations for every state in which he will be driving. Most states in the US have different regulations concerning freight, truck, time, and speed. Expert knowledge of all these things can help a driver maintain a clean driving record and ensure that he is capable of obtaining one of these competitive jobs.
A great strategy to help a driver find a flatbed driving job is to join the trucking association or board in his state. This will show strong initiative and help the truck driver network among other professionals in the transportation industry who can help the driver find jobs.

Flatbed truck driving jobs are widely available for qualified drivers and require more responsibility than other driving jobs, but the rewards coincide with the responsibilities. These jobs may be strenuous and require extensive training, but with dedication and a safe driving record, these jobs can be fairly easily attained. Oil Rig Job, Offshore Catering Jobs, Offshore Jobs

Oil Rig JobThere is common misunderstanding about oil rig jobs: people often think that if he/she works at oil rig, it means that he/she is necessarily dealing with oil and gas extraction. This is not true, since oil rigs require large number of additional auxiliary personnel also known as offshore catering workers that render services to those, who are directly engaged in oil and gas extraction. For instance, if you are a good cook, you have very good chances to get a well-paid oil rig jobs, since people working on the oil rig need someone, who can cook for them, therefore oil extracting companies hire cooks for their personnel.

Offshore catering jobs are popular, because they pay twice as much as a worker would be earning in other industry doing the same work. Even if you do not have any experience that would be required for oil rig jobs, you still have a chance to try yourself at a entry level position that does not need much expertise.

Salaries for offshore catering jobs are indeed generous. For instance, a steward that housekeeps in living areas and also helps cooks to cook can easily start at $45,000 a year without any experience, while camp boss starts at $65,000. Cooks are demanded people on the oil rig and they usually start at $59,000 a year, although you must keep in mind that you may be cooking for 200-1000 people and you will be doing more work than usual, since few assistants will be available to you. This is considerably higher than the industry average for a head chef that is estimated to be $32,650. For a steward with no prior experience starting salary of $45,000 can be considered as a wonderful start.

The working conditions for oil rig jobs are satisfying. Usually the personnel work for 12 hours and rests for next 12 hours and they stay on the rig for 2 weeks, but after that they rest for 2 weeks. This is usually how the system works, but there are cases, when 4 or 6 week system is in place. So before you sign the contract, be aware what you employer offers you.

For many people after reading this the first thing that may come in mind is the question, where to get oil rig jobs or offshore catering jobs.

We advise you to use services of professional oil rig jobs finder site. We recommend you one of our partner sites. The company provides some of its services free of charge, such online preparation of resume/CV, tips for resume/CV and general advises for the interview.

Expedited Trucking Jobs

Expedited Trucking Jobs - Jobs In Trucking #serendipity_banner { background-image: url(/uploads/bgHeader.jpg); background-position: left top; background-repeat: no-repeat; } Skip to blog entries Skip to archive page Skip to left sidebar Skip to right sidebar
Home CDL Info How to Get Trucking Jobs Types of Trucking Jobs Expedited Trucking Jobs Jobs In Trucking Thursday, November 10. 2011 Expedited Trucking Jobs Expedited trucking jobs involve the handling of packages which for which the delivery is time sensitive. These jobs are typically dealing with goods of high-dollar value which need to be moved or shipped to the recipient without any chance for delay. The objective is to make sure that the packages get to their different destinations even if your company would have to incur additional charges to make that happen. In expedited truck driving jobs, different types of trucks are used depending on the packages to be sent. Small cargo vans, semi-trucks, and straight trucks are the ones which are most commonly used. One benefit about using straight trucks on these routes is that they are equipped with a sleeper, providing the driver with a place to rest whenever he needs sleep.

Expedited trucking companies are always offering jobs to people who are qualified. These trucking jobs are consistently in high demand because they involve tasks that are very important to the survival of our country’s economy. Overnight shipping is often used to close business deals, and by personally delivering these goods, you are assisting in the growth of an American company.

Drivers who wish to apply for expedited truck driving jobs, need to consider three important things:

These jobs require more than just experience and skill. It is necessary to consider your emotional, mental and physical fitness before embarking on these imperative quests. There is always a large sum of money lost if the packages are not delivered to their predefined definitions within the time specified. In most cases, losses are suffered by both parties, sending and receiving.
An expedited truck driver must be prepared to perform any kind of delivery. This may even include selling certain items to the public. The duty of selling products will generally provide commissions, which can be a pleasant additional source of income to your basic salary. A driver could also potentially have to perform other tasks: deliver uniforms, pick up laundry, deliver inventory, etc.
To apply for an expedited trucking job, the driver must have a commercial driver's license (CDL) for the particular truck which he will be driving. A driver is expected to have the license before submitting his application for employment, and if he does not have a valid CDL, he will stand no chance of being hired. For prospective drivers, trucking school is a good idea to prepare for the CDL exam.

Expedited trucking jobs are very popular amongst drivers because they have the opportunity of earning a great salary. Drivers of heavy trucks are generally paid an average of $19.35 per hour, and drivers that handle light service trucks can expect to receive between $12.85 and $14.50 per hour. If the driver will be involved in long-haul driving, he can expect to earn much more than that, in addition to many other bonuses. The amount a driver is going to be paid will depend on the factors such as his employer, the items transported, certification, experience, and seniority. Home CDL Info How to Get Trucking Jobs Types of Trucking Jobs Tanker Trucking Jobs Jobs In Trucking Thursday, November 10. 2011 Tanker Trucking Jobs Many companies are now interested in hiring people for different tanker truck driving jobs. Oil is one of the important substances that is keeping the US economy moving, and tanker truck driving jobs provide an ambitious driver with an opportunity to help our country grow economically. In every area of life that you find yourself, you need oil to do a lot of things, both at home, office or in the public places. Every business needs oil to carry out its activities. Therefore, more companies are always in need of talented, qualified drivers because there is sure to be a constant increase in demand for petroleum products in the foreseeable future.

Tanker trucking jobs do not only involve the transportation of oil. There are many other substances that are transported using the tanker. If a driver is interested in any of these jobs, the type of company he is working for will determine what types of products he will be transporting. If the driver is interested in this vital area, these are some things that he may need to consider:

Tanker truck driving jobs involve being away from your home and your family for several days on occasions. If the driver’s employer is an oil company, he may be required to travel for hundreds of thousands of miles because the oil depot may be far away from his place of residence or the location where the freight is needed.
The cargo he will be carrying will always be composed of hazardous materials. This means that the driver has to be very careful and responsible with his driving. He needs to be very careful on slick roads, in turns, and when braking. This is important because any carelessness may cause the gas or liquid he are carrying to spill on the road, catching fire in the process. This is not intended to scare people out of these driving jobs, it is more a warning to ensure drivers place a strong importance on safety.
A driver should always find time to rest during runs. The driver should remember that oil transportation jobs require you to travel across long distances, and he may not always have time to sleep. However, it is always necessary to have a timetable during the trip, where he may need to allocate about 2 to 3 hours to sleep. This is very important, as it can help to prevent a driver from falling asleep while driving.
Oil transportation jobs are very good because the drivers are highly paid. When a driver is still brand new, most companies will start with at least $35,000 per year, and as he becomes dedicated to the job and maintains a good driving record, he will start receiving upwards of $90,000 a year after only about 2 to 3 years. The driver will also be entitled to different bonuses and compensation for his work.

It is necessary for all drivers of large trucks to have the standard commercial driver's license, and this job is certainly no exception. However, if the driver wants to earn more money than his competition, he should also have other endorsements that give you him permission to drive specialized rigs and trucks carrying heavy loads, dangerous materials and so on. Regional Truck Driving Jobs - Jobs In Trucking #serendipity_banner { background-image: url(/uploads/bgHeader.jpg); background-position: left top; background-repeat: no-repeat; } Skip to blog entries Skip to archive page Skip to left sidebar Skip to right sidebar
Home CDL Info How to Get Trucking Jobs Types of Trucking Jobs Regional Truck Driving Jobs Jobs In Trucking Thursday, November 10. 2011 Regional Truck Driving Jobs Some of the most popular jobs in the trucking industry today are regional truck driving jobs. This type of job is not too demanding because a driver will only be driving trucks five days a week, and he will have the luxury of being at home with his family during weekends. Regional truck driving jobs do not require a driver travel long distances, generally allowing him to stay within 2-3 states of his home. In some cases, the driver may be required to return to the office the same day. This major characteristic is one of the key reasons that regional truck driving jobs are very popular amongst married truck drivers.

There are several factors that have led to the rise in popularity of regional trucking jobs:

Most companies maintain regional distribution centers for their raw materials and products. This is always done in order to reduce cost of transportation.
For long distances, most companies rely on other means of transportation such as shipping and rail. Rail transportation especially can really get a large quantity of items transported.
Regional truck driving jobs help a company retain good drivers. Most drivers are always discouraged when they consistently have to travel across long distances, and these jobs give them an opportunity to set up a consistent home base.
A driver can really have a good career if he applies for one of the various regional truck driving jobs. These are some of the conditions that a driver must meet in order to qualify for one of these jobs:

He must have a current CDL license. This is issued by the transport department of each state of the US, with each of them setting own requirements.
He must have at least two years of experience. It is very beneficial to have experience driving different types of trucks, from trapdoors to trailers. This experience shows that the driver knows the different routes in the country, including shortcuts in case of the need to beat heavy traffic in some areas.
The driver must be at least 25 years old, even though the minimum age for driving is 18 years. Most companies only want people who are mature enough to handle the daily demands of the job.
A regional driver must also be resident in the city in which his employer is located. The location of his employer is usually the principal office used for business activities.

Regional truck driving jobs will really help out a driver’s financial life because most companies pay higher rates than OTR jobs, and dependable drivers will earn other special bonuses. If he prefers, a driver can even be paid every week, and the good thing is that he may not even need the money at the end of the week because there are various bonuses he can always make use of. Even during economic crises in the country, a CDL certified truck driver can always take care of your family. These jobs offer great security, great pay, and an opportunity to return home almost every night. What is there not to love about regional trucking jobs?
