Cost Enigneer - Aberdeen, UK

Responsibilities

To build on the current capabilities of our Aberdeen based team we are currently seeking experienced Cost Engineers for works across various projects including a major developments in the region with our Industry leading clients.

- Deliver consistent but appropriate cost management structures for major, complex projects.
- Roll-out of the emerging Company standard tools and processes, as appropriate for each project's life cycle development & execution phase.
- Provide project management support in the development of cost breakdown structures (CBS) and their population from the estimate.
- Develop Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and document Cost Time and Resource (CTR) sheets for phased cost estimates in line with the Company guidance notes for agreement and sign-off by the CTR budget holders.
- Provide project guidance for creation of accurate monthly cost reports, identifying variances from the plan on commitment, value of work done, changes and currency fluctuations against approved Authorities for Expenditure (AFEs).
- Develop and implement the change management process for projects.
- Provide guidance on trend analysis and the assessment of change impacts on cost.
- Participate in peer reviews and other Assurance events.
- Contribute to the development of junior staff through coaching and training in cost engineering practices, tools and techniques.
- Maintain and promote realism in the cost forecasts in the face of commercial pressure and optimism from project teams.
- Maintain consistency in cost bases through rigorous adherence to the controls processes.
- Drive and raise awareness of the importance of developing the cost management structure in early project phases.

Skills / Experience Required

Engineering Degree and/or Certification as a Cost Engineer or equivalent experience.
Minimum 6-8 years industry experience in lead cost engineering positions
Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills
Experience in managing small teams of junior personnel.
Fully versed with Cost Control principles and techniques.
JD Edwards, Prism and SAP Experience

Responsible for the overall planning, development and monitoring of a major project.

To establish and maintain the project planning system and procedures.

Analyse schedule data and advise the principal planner of potential delays.

Continual review and development of procedures and common support processes resulting in improved business effectiveness.

Ensure the requisite quality of data is maintained.

Develop and ensure compliance with the work breakdown structure and coding.

Oversee the planning element of the change control procedure.

Production of 'what if' scenarios and plans to suit both client and contractor requirements.

Production of risk analysis data if required by the project.

Mentoring and development of planning personnel, to raise their competence, awareness, knowledge and techniques required in the execution of planning functions.

To read, understand and implement the Company Safety Policy and the arrangements described in the Company and area Safety Management System documents in relation to the the Planning function.

To promote HS&E responsibility within the team.

Qualification/Training:

Essential

Technical Degree or Equivalent.

Experience in the Engineering Construction Industry.

Significant portion of the above to have been within planning.

Supervision of teams of people.

Scheduler - Calgary, Alberta

We are currently seeking experienced Project Schedulers. Working closely with one of the world Oil and Gas Majors are a seeking dynamic and motivated professionals looking to make there mark in our rapidly growing Canadian and International business.

Responsibilities

Coordinate assigned day to day activities and manage scheduling work load with contractors.
Build CPM, logically driven construction schedules at various stages of the project life cycle. Specific emphasis is placed on Final Investment Decision (FID) and Issued For Construction (IFC) schedules.
Analyze schedule logic, activity durations, constraints, float, resource loading, etc. Review critical path(s). Level resources as needed to support project constraints
The ability to link detailed engineering and construction schedules with activities to build a complete integrated project schedule.
Provide assurance on schedules submitted by contractors according to the project guidelines.
The ability to use prior project knowledge to build conceptual schedules is preferred.
The ability to develop a schedule risk analysis component of the schedule assurance process.
Participate in the interactive planning meetings for projects requesting final investment funding as part of the assurance activity.
Understand and use the IPA scheduling metric tool to improve schedule predictability. Incorporate IPA recommendations regarding scheduling into current scheduling process.
Help develop, maintain, and revise scheduling templates that incorporate all project phases.
Help collect and report scheduling information quarterly to support development of the KPI stoplight charts.
Perform analysis to track deltas between planned and actual dates and durations. Create a statistical understanding of planned data versus actual outcomes.
Assist in progressing construction schedules in accordance with the approved progress measurement strategy.
Participate in field walks to validate scope.
Help develop / update schedule procedures and work processed as necessary.

Skills / Experience Required

Engineering Degree and/or Certification as a Planning / Scheduling Engineer or equivalent experience.
Demonstrate some industry experience in planning positions.
Good written and oral communications.
Good working knowledge of Planning principles and techniques and Primavera P6.
4-5 Years Experience in Oil and Gas
Must be eligible to work in Canada
