Principal Social Consultant

My client is an independent, international consultancy that provides globally integrated services to the international mining industry. They employ over 1000 professionals and have over 40 offices on 6 continents. Throughout its 35 years of operation it has provided its clients with innovative, practical and cost effective solutions. Their client base covers a wide range of industries, particularly within the resources and engineering sectors.

They offer a variety of interesting and challenging projects working from a capital city location. Many of their projects are of an international nature and utilise the organisations international consulting network.

Post Responsibilities

The primary role is to act as a Principal Social Consultant, providing competent consulting services to support projects and clients. Other aspects of the role include:
*Acting as project manager on social and/or other specialist environmental studies
*Providing expert social services to ensure successful delivery of projects
*Managing the social and environmental aspects of multi-disciplinary project development studies
*Business development, including the generation of business from new and existing clients
*Managing and developing Consultant and Senior level staff

This list is not exhaustive and further reasonable duties may be requested from time to time as may be deemed in keeping with the job designation.

Main Technical Responsibilities:

The work involved in undertaking this role may include the following activities, as well as other responsibilities as required:
*Undertaking the following specialist activities: stakeholder engagement; socio-economic impact assessment; corporate social responsibility due diligence; social liabilities evaluation
*Preparing socio-economic management plans and resettlement and community development plans
*Reviewing specialist SIA reports and social management plans produced by clients or their consultants
*Project management and co-ordination including: information control, planning and programming of works, commercial and contractual control, procurement, ensuring progress meetings are undertaken, production of progress and financial reports, close liaison with the client and their representatives, safety and quality control
*Report writing
*Proposal preparation including co-ordination of teams members (from UK and other offices), identification of sub-consultants (where necessary), proposal writing, budget preparation and liaison with client representatives

Essential Requirements:

*Degree or equivalent in a social (preference) or environmental discipline with a higher degree in a social discipline and/or the majority of experience gained internationally
*Previous experience of undertaking large SIAs and contributing to project development studies, ideally for international (non-UK) projects and for a variety of natural resource commodities
*Evidence of exposure to various environmental disciplines including air, water, geochemistry, noise, biodiversity/ecology and how these relate to socio-economic situations
*Knowledge of the Equator Principles and IFC Performance Standards, other international best practice
*Proven track record of bringing projects in on time, within budget and to the clients satisfaction
*Excellent report and proposal writing skills. A second language, ideally French would be an advantage but is not essential
*Strong communication skills with knowledge of working with different communities and cultures
*Proven leadership and team building experience, working self sufficiently also within a team environment
*Business development skills - business development will act as a crucial part of the role
*Effective organisation and time management skills

Working Conditions

Frequent overseas travel will be necessary, involving working in a variety of climatic and geographic terrains in addition to working in various mining and mineral processing operations.

Our client is a leading independent services provider for the Oil & Gas and Power Generation markets and they are currently looking to add a number of Instrument Technicians to their team to work on various assets in the North Sea. The Instrument Technicians will be accountable for carrying out maintenance activities in line with discipline and provide support to their Offshore Supervisor.

Main duties will include:

*Accountable for the execution of maintenance activities, ensuring permits, tools, materials, equipment, work site preparation, and all supporting documentation, are in place.
*Identify requirements that will enable self-development within role and actively contribute as required.
*Carrying out planned maintenance activities in accordance with the requirements of the planned maintenance system
*Assisting with the coordination of spare parts requirements and the optimisation of spares stack levels
*Carrying out unplanned maintenance as required
*Minimise downtime and contribute to the achievement of production targets
*Preparing technical reports as required
*Responsible for ensuring any individual gaps in your competency standards are closed out on a timely basis.
*Comply with company training, competency and personal development programmes.
*Liaise with other departments/technicians as required ensuring effective/efficient delivery of the agreed plans.
*Ensure equipment, systems and work sites are reinstated to the required standard.
*Ensure work history is comprehensively recorded in line with Maximo data quality requirements.
*Identify, document and communicate all follow up work and material requirements or other relevant data e.g. ordering materials against work orders.
*Demonstrate a flexible approach to overall team performance and delivery, for example, co-ordinating vendor/subcontractor activities, shutdown preparations, multi-tasking, etc.
*Stand in for Discipline Supervisor as required when identified and suitably trained
*Provide technical support to platform team members where required
*Ensure high quality risk assessments are carried out for all activities, with particular attention to recognising the impact of change.
*Participate in improvement initiatives as appropriate.
*Carry out emergency response duties as required.
*Participate when required and appropriate in the weekly planning meeting.
*Accountable for relevant safety critical activities as detailed in the Activity Catalogue.
*Provide effective support to workforce, vendors, third parties and apprentices in appropriate safety leadership behaviours
*Promote and encourage team safety performance by participating in and producing quality Tool Box Talks and TRIC's
*Visible commitment to the risk assessment process. On-going reviews of the process and carry out safety audits in the work environment for compliance

Candidates will ideally hold or be working towards a level 3 NVQ or equivalent in a relevant discipline and ideally have previous experience in a similar position within the oil & gas industry. Candidates must hold valid survival, MIST and medical certificates.

They are looking to add a Supervising GPO Engineer to join their team on a major oilfield project and play a major role in the structural engineering and design of brownfield work for large modules/topsides for offshore oil & gas platform facilities, in the Gulf of Mexico.
Work includes development of all associated engineering documents. Must be able to take a hands-on role in the design and analysis of structures as well as provide supervision/guidance and coordination to junior engineers and designers.

The ideal candidate will be degree qualified in Civil/Structural engineering or a related discipline. They'll ideally have offshore industry experience and both Greenfield and Brownfield work experience is required. Previous experience in the engineering of decks & modular units for offshore oil & gas platforms, including the design and analysis of topsides, appurtenances and related secondary structures for the full range of load conditions to which they may be subjected. Ideally, experience with and familiarity of SACS and experience of working in a team environment and taking a lead role. Full knowledge of analyses for Inplace, Loadout, Transportation, & Lift.

Well versed with AISC, APR RP2A, SACS software and processes applicable to offshore structural designs is also desirable.

Job Purpose:
To manage the daily performance and operation required to run Document Management Centre. This includes all DM activities required to meet the needs of the onshore and offshore operations within the client's organisation and the Client.

Role & Responsibilities:
- To set up and manage a team to deliver DM support to a project
- To ensure the DM team achieves the agreed targets and milestones on the project
- To perform all supervisory and administration duties required to run the Document Management Centre
- To maintain and audit the DM team performance against the agreed Service Level Agreement on the project.
- Ensure that a comprehensive set of DM procedures and work instructions are developed and maintained
- Facilitate meetings relating to the operational interfaces of DM
- Manage a co-ordinated approach to resolving procedural issues in a timely manner.
- Manage co-ordinating a complete and timely project close-out / handover activities

Knowledge, Skills and Requirements:
- Educated to HNC Engineering or Science subject or equivalent
- Higher Grade Level qualifications (pref to include Technical / Engineering, English, Science, Maths)

Instrument Engineer - Oil & Gas

Our client, a leading Engineering and management contractor in the oil and gas industry, due to a new five year PMC project award now seeks an Instrument Engineer to join their PMC team in Abu Dhabi. The operator intends to embark on various projects, both onshore and offshore, to maintain existing facilities and enhance oil and gas production from it's main reservoir incorporating, Production, Water Injection, Observation, Gas Injection and Gas Lift Wells. The overall mission of the PMC team is to manage the EPC contractors through FEED to Construction, Commissioning and final Handover stage.In terms of the main Instrumentation systems this would encompass, DCS, ESD, Fire & Gas and SCADA, with particular emphasis on living quarters communications ie telephone/public address/TV. Sub systems. This will also involve contribution during P&Ids reviews and shop and field testing of control systems.
Suitable candidates will need to be Degree qualified with a minimum of ten years post graduate experience with at least three years in a PMC role. Preference will be given to those with previous Middle East experience.

*Assist in recruitment, selection and effective induction and integration of new members to the department.
