JOB SUMMARY
The software engineer will design, code and test applications for embedded systems in C++.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
?Design, code, and test applications for embedded systems in C++ and C.
?Write test scripts for production equipment to help verify bug free software that's in route to customers
?Lead or participate in software design reviews, identification of code metrics, and software reliability analysis studies
?Primary focus in this role will be to improve existing software documentation while incorporating new automated test methods

Experience:
?A minimum of 3 - 5 years experience in software application development in C++ and C
?Must have detailed understanding of software test procedures and best of class documentation methods
?Must have hands-on experience in software test script development
?Fundamental understanding of real time operating systems
?Demonstrated experience in an environment using embedded system software development tools
?Detailed knowledge of industrial networks, CAN and ProfiNet preferred
?Familiar with front end graphical user interface design and touch screen requirements
?Some experience working with databases is required
?Working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and industrial controls

PREFERRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
?Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.

We are a Managed Service IT Provider based in Los Angeles and we are looking for a great Help Desk Engineer to add to our team (that's a "T1" type tech). Are you working for an outsourced IT firm but found that you don't have any room to grow? This position is responsible for providing first level support for all IT support requests. This includes hardware and software troubleshooting as well as recording, tracking and following up on the status of each IT support ticket. This position will also be on a 24x7 on call rotation schedule.

So what are we looking for in a person?
- An excellent engineer or tech, that understands that fixing workstations is really only 50% of your job. The other part is understanding client's needs, and how the work you do really affects the workflow of their business.
- You know when to reach out and ask for help, and that it's impossible to know everything so you help out your co-workers when they ask for help, and are secure enough to ask them for help in return.
- You are a professional, and can be a forward facing member of our team, not just a back of the shop nerd (not that there's anything wrong with that).

So what are we looking for skills-wise?

We believe in honesty, especially when it comes to letting us know what your capabilities are. These are the things that you will be tackling as part of your job. Keep in mind -- YOU WILL BE TESTED ON THE THINGS BELOW, SO PLEASE BE HONEST IN YOUR APPLICATION. It doesn't help any of us if you fluff up your resume, because we are really looking for this specific experience. It's not to say that you aren't awesome if you haven't done this (we are sure you are), but it's just that you won't be a good fit and it probably won't work out since this is what we are looking for.

These skills are not just important, but you need to be a master at them:

Networking
- Setup Sonicwalls from scratch and fully understand how they work (without using the wizards)
- NAT and Firewall Rules -- know what Port Forwarding is all about and can set it up on consumer devices

Wireless
- Understands the general protocols, how to setup multiple devices to work well together
- Bonus if you have setup management stations to control multiple WAPs

Desktop Management
- Can migrate profiles, understand how roaming profiles / profile redirection works
- Join a PC to a domain
- Join a Mac to a Domain
- Understand and have worked with Macs in a business environment
- Understand most common software apps from Microsoft and Adobe and can install, configure and answer client functionality questions about it so that you can help power users
- Can backup and repair windows

Mobile Devices
- Understand how mobile devices interact with the server, and how it specifically interacts with Android / iOS in a business setting
- Have used and configured newer devices such as iOS and Android. Understand how apps are purchased and deployed, as well as the most common apps for both OSes. Blackberry is nice, but not a major requirement, because, quite frankly, it's a dying technology.

Backups
- Can backup a failing hard drive with imaging software so that you are covered when restoring an OS from scratch

Business to business experience
- Have worked with projects and end users in a client -- consultant setting

Consulting Experience
- If you have worked / currently work at an MSP or consulting firm, that is a major bonus
- Have worked with a ticketing system

Other Requirements
- 3 years working in IT
- MCP, MCSE, CompTia A+, Network+, or Help Desk Professional Certification a plus.
- Solid hands on in a client environment (not just "I set this up in my basement" one time)
- Can participate in on call/after-hours support
- Can write clear and concise documentation of what you did during a repair
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- You are organized and can manage yourself with minimal oversight
- Have reliable transportation, as you will be going onsite for client repairs
- Can lift over 50 lbs. and can install equipment under desks and in server racks
