We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our team. We are a tight-knit family oriented team, looking for someone who loves Human Resources. HR is our passion and we want it to be yours too.

You will assist the EVP of Human Resources in key areas including new hire processing, on-boarding, assimilation, training and development, performance management, regulatory and policy compliance, administration of benefits and rewards program, data reporting and tracking and the maintenance, updating of all components of the Company's HR Management System, and assist payroll functions. You must have the ability to work independently and with minimal direction, and follow the established work processes and procedures in the performance of their responsibilities.

Your Essential Functions
? Interact with and provide HR support to all levels of employees and managers.
? Assist with key HR processes including staffing, on-boarding, policies and procedures, training and development, employee relations, and compliance.
? Perform benefits administration to include claims resolution in conjunction with broker, change reporting, and communicating benefit information to employees.
? Process monthly billings from insurance providers. Review billings for accuracy, codes and advances for payment. Resolve discrepancies with carriers, payroll and the company. Complete reports for management as requested.
? Coach/counsel employees and management members through employee relations and performance issues and opportunities.
? Create new hire packets and process all new hire paperwork, including inputting employee information into the HRMS.
? Help drive Human Resource compliance by ensuring standardized and consistent Human Resource practices and policies are followed.
? Assist in promptly addresses employment-related complaints by completing thorough investigations as directed by the EVP of HR and taking the appropriate next steps to resolve the issues in a fair and equitable manner.
? Maintain Human Resource Management System records and compile reports from database.
? Assist in managing and maintaining the Employee Rewards Program.
? Manage the HR administrative duties necessary to meet the needs of the organization including: new hire paperwork, employee files, data analysis, data input and processing, reporting systems, employee termination paperwork and processing, and other related duties.
? Provide support to payroll functions as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
? Bachelor's degree required; or, a combination of education and experience will be considered. PHR Certification preferred; if not already certified, the incumbent should be working toward obtaining certification.
? Experience: Two-Four years of related experience and general knowledge of HR principles, employment laws and practices. Experience working in a human resource office setting.
? Experience working with payroll functions and processing; ADP preferred.
? Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required, including Microsoft Excel.
? Willing to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals.
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
? Ability to receive, follow, and provide instructions in a positive manner.
? Ability to work effectively with all employees and management in a professional, courteous, and understanding manner. Ability to maintain constructive working relationships.
? Ability to maintain confidentiality.
? Ability to travel between branches, as needed.
? Basic math skills to include ratios, percentages, addition, subtraction, etc.

The wildcatter's risky business

As oil’s largest corporation have rushed into South Texas to pump millions of barrels out of the Eagle Ford Shale, wildcatter Harvey Howell has been drilling at the region’s edges hoping to strike it big. Howell, a San Antonio geologist, hunts hydrocarbons in places no one else has found them yet or in depleted fields where others think oil is already gone.

Coming off of a recent dry hole in Frio County, Howell’s latest venture has taken him to David Holdsworth’s Tortuga Ranch in Zavala County, a land hobbled by drought, but believed to be holding riches thousands of feet below ground.
