A cutting edge technology company is looking for a Senior mechanical design engineer.
The successful candidate will be implementation of engineering skills in the mechanical and thermo-fluid design aspects of fuel cell stacks, systems and components, with a competent understanding of the requirements and the impact of EU and international standards on fuel cell stack and system design.
The applicant must have essential knowledge of 3D CAD software, knowledge of mechanical engineering and design of relevant fuel cells, prototyping, good communication and application and presentation of designs with appropriate media used. A good understanding of solid works 2011 is preferably with experience of Solid Edge, Car Desk, inventor or CATAIR is considered an advantage.
The key skills required for this role a strong include a high degree of innovation and technical assessment, a problem solver who is able to find solutions for the novel and complex problems. The candidate must be able to understand resource requirements, together with risk and quality to effective problem solutions.
Good communication is essential for this role for the functioning of change management during engineering drawing updates, to ensure that configuration control is maintained, and best practice is shared with other members of the team.
Other essential skills for the role include understanding tests and criteria for stacks, systems and major components that are relevant to design for successful programme delivery to recognize outside resources such as design together with intuition and subcontractors when they warn in an additional capacity programme manager may be needed.
The applicant must be a sound background in design, with knowledge of Prototype engineering trusted in using steel, blow moulding and plastics as well as technically being able to apply themselves to the safe design of products and systems with a special interest in the safety of hydrogen, pressure and machine safety
The successful candidate will hold a degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, supplemented with a postgraduate qualification or industrial experience. Non degree holders with more than ten years of experience will also be considered.
