Crane and Drilling Rig Shop Mechanic - Vanadium Management - Houston, TX

Summary

This position is for a skilled heavy equipment rebuild mechanic. You will be repairing and rebuilding mobile cranes and drilling rigs in the confines of a well-equipped shop … not in the field. You must have strong mechanical and diagnostic abilities, and a good working knowledge of complex hydraulic and electronic control systems.

Pay scale: $25 – $35 per hour depending on experience
$ 5,000.00 signing bonus for qualified candidates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Works independently and possesses strong problem solving skills Performs quality repairs, predictive and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment. Understands equipment mechanical function including electronic, hydraulic and Pneumatic systems. Reads and understands equipment operating and repair manuals including hydraulic and electric schematics. Operates and inspects heavy equipment to diagnose defects. Diagnoses faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using mechanical and electronic diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices. Dismantles and reassembles heavy equipment components using hand tools, power tools. Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges. Cleans, lubricates, and performs other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles. Prepares written statement of repairs performed and maintain equipment service records. · Tests equipment after repair to ensure proper performance compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
Understanding and implementation of Safety and Shop ProceduresEssential Skills

Knowledge: Design, uses, repair and maintenance of cranes, drilling rigs and support equipment.
Skills: Troubleshooting, and repair of machines and systems. Perform routine maintenance with the proper tools and equipment for the job. Installing modifications and repair parts as designated. Monitoring equipment operations and identifying out-of-parameter performance. Review problems and associated information, develop and implement corrective actions.
Abilities: To use Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to look up and order parts. Layout repair process, including kitting and staging sub-assemblies; Train apprentices’ in the steps and sequences in repair and PM process.

Certifications and Education :
High School Diploma or GED Completion of technical school or equivalent occupational or military experience Valid state Drivers’ License A minimum of three to four years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is needed for this position, 200 hours of technical training Crane Inspection Certification a plus ASE certification or professional equivalent Manufacturer’s certification to work on crane and drilling rig systems CDL Class C is a plus

Language Skills
Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos and the ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization
