The Purpose of the Role;

Identify foreseeable hazards for asset modifications so that appropriate studies can be completed
Perform safety screening for change proposal designs so that design team know what is required and why
Initiate measures to reduce the risks associated with the design to ALARP

Prime responsibilities and duties
Achieve safety standards as defined in personal performance contract
Responsible for assessing effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view to continuously improving systems, personal and team performance
Produce various safety engineering (and legislative compliance) studies under the instruction (with minimal guidance) of the Principal Safety Engineer
Review multi-discipline documents to ensure ALARP designs have been adopted
Conduct risk assessments and risk reviews in accordance with existing procedures
Represent the safety team at kick-off meetings, progress and design review meetings for the project or change proposal designs
Preparation of CTR estimates for the safety engineering studies
Delivering quality, cost effective and timely engineering services in a demanding environment of change, short interval planning and conflicting priorities
Reporting progress against schedule to the Head of Safety

Ideal candidates will be educated to a Degree level in a relevant subject and hold a Chartered status.
