Our client is one of the largest independent crude oil and natural gas producers in the world. They seek with immediate effect an Operations Engineer to be based in Aberdeen. As Operations Engineer you will provide technical support for the West African overseas operation. The main responsibilities will be to provide day-to-day operations support in troubleshooting problems, identify opportunities to optimise production, and detailed planning and preparation of activities in West Africa. The role requires the individual to frequently visit West Africa to deliver and supervise work-scopes during peak activity.

The role is a key interface between in-country/offshore organisations and the Aberdeen organisation in terms of SHE, Production Operations, Facilities Engineering and Integrity Management support.

Duties & Responsibilities to include:-
*Ensure leadership and delivery of the annual SHE plans both for company operated facilities and leased FPSO operations.
*Deploy engineering & operational standards/ procedures that meet both regulatory and safety standards within ALARP principles.
*Work with the FPSO representatives and in-country Ops Superintendents to provide day to day support and direction to offshore production operations;
*Provide short- term and long term solutions and undertake operational investigations into operational defects and vulnerabilities.
*Ensure the operating and trouble shooting of process systems to maximise production and minimise cost;
*Develop operational philosophies and/or procedures as required for operations or project works;
*Conduct regular visits to operations locations to lead and supervise work-scopes during peak activity levels;
*Liaise with, and co-ordinate, specialist vendor support for offshore (compressors, subsea controls, etc).
*Provide or ensure provision of, engineering support as required by in country operations - e.g. analysis of failures/downtime, troubleshooting, optimisation, operator aids etc.;
*Initiate and manage 3rd party studies as required in support of operations;
*Participate in HAZOPS and HAZIDS as required;
*Support the start-up and integration of new projects;
*Lead and manage Management of Change and Operating Procedure development and update.
*Direct liaison with FPSO operators to understand and resolve technical matters.
*Anticipate and monitor future Operations requirements on existing assets, prepare operational engineering cost forecast to support budgets and long range planning.

You'll ideally be qualified to degree or equivalent level in an Engineering or related discipline. You'll ideally have a thorough understanding of offshore production and utility systems and previous offshore experience of fixed and or floating facilities. You'll ideally have a good understanding and application of Safety Management Systems and Engineering Practices and understand commercial and financial issues to deliver all works within budget and schedule.
