Job Summary:
Day to day operations include the design of new land rig packages. This includes every aspect of the rig from the substructure and mast to the backyard equipment. The challenge is integrating the standard rig equipment processes using innovative methods to increase productivity and reduce down time caused by rig up and rig down during rig moves. As a designer of Land rigs and equipment you will be encouraged to bring innovative ideas to the team to create new products and quickly and efficiently get them to market.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Ability to understand and apply fundamental Geometric Dimension & Tolerancing

Must be able to create 3D models of designs and create 2D drawings to acceptable drafting practices

Familiarity with manufacturing and assembly processes

Ability to design new product components and assemblies as well as revise existing products

Prepare detailed sketches and layouts of new products

Generate Bills of Materials and Engineering Change Notices

Perform other duties as required by Engineering management

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements:
Mechanical aptitude required

Rig Experience preferred

Proficient in AutoCAD and Solidworks (or similar 3D modeling software)

1-5

years of design experience in a structural/heavy equipment design environment

Knowledge of Engineering standards and procedures

Ability to process multiple types of information and/or perform multiple tasks simultaneously

Ability to define, diagnose, and resolve problems and the ability to make decisions in a timely manner

Excellent technical communication skills including proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Excellent written as well as verbal communication skills

Self-directed and highly motivated with the ability to work under minimal supervision

Ability to interact cooperatively and collaboratively with others as a team

Demonstrated commitment to quality and professionalism

Ability to perform basic level engineering calculations such as estimation of areas, volumes, and weights
