Job Description
Expanding specialty pharmaceutical company located in West LA, is currently looking for a hands-on Sr. Accountant / Analysis for a full time opportunity. Under general direction of the CFO, this position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position supervises the Accounts Payable Accountant and the Accounts Receivable Accountant, and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, payroll function support, customer sales analysis, monthly financial reporting, year-end audit preparation, and the support of budget and forecast activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct and perform the monthly close of the general ledger, and maintain the account reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts, including preparation of journal entries

Perform general accounting functions, and provide expertise in all transactional based accounting through financial reporting
Prepare product pricing calculations in the monthly settlement reports for customers, and direct the disbursement process with the customers
Direct the financial analysis program for all revenue streams
Maintain long-term accounts receivable and customer payable schedules
Maintain non-payroll forms, renewals and licenses by State
Direct the preparation and filing of 940s, 941s W-2s, 1099's and D-9's
Reconcile and analyze monthly account activity, including bank accounts
Prepare Stock Awards schedule and post Stock Option expense JE
Roll-forward and reconcile prepaid expenses and accrued liability accounts, and post JE
Ad hoc financial reporting, modeling, and analyses as required, including preparation of monthly reports and supporting schedules
Make recommendations based on knowledge of systems and procedures; conduct analysis necessary to make improvement recommendations
Prepare reconciliation of GL system payroll data to Quickbooks payroll and tax returns

Job Requirement
Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience (public accounting firm experience a plus)
CPA certification a plus (or in the process of passing the CPA exam)
Requires a BA/BS in Finance/Accounting
Overall understanding and application of GAAP and SEC/financial reporting requirements
Literacy in EPR GL systems and data exporting and computer-based tools used to summarize financial information, including Microsoft Excel pivot tables, Word and PowerPoint
Awareness of control responsibilities and requirements relating to financial reporting in order to meet the requirements of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002
Ability to understand, address and account for new and non-recurring transactions with minimal oversight
General understanding of Federal, State and City business filing regulations
Ability to supervise staff and review their work product in the execution of departmental responsibilities
Ability to work under time pressure and complete tasks without precedent in a timely manner
Must be detail-oriented, have a proactive approach and the ability to work with cross-functional teams
Must be able to prioritize tasks and effectively manage and meet critical deadlines
Ability to work in a team environment; Strong written and oral communication skills
