Gamer.com is a brand new online games and media portal (launched 2013) covering all aspects of the gaming industry from web, mobile and free-to-play, to consoles and PC; and we are seeking an extremely talented News Editor to work with us! The following is a paid opportunity we have available at this time.

The ideal candidate will be someone that has demonstrated exemplary writing and editing ability, considerable gaming knowledge and interest; and wants to break into game journalism or take their experience to the next level. Therefore, this stipend should act to supplement, but not necessarily replace their existing remuneration; and is aimed at highly-qualified editors inside the industry interested in more challenging roles or those outside looking to get their foot into the door while helping to shape and influence the tone & direction of the site.

The editor should be able to demonstrate excellence in copy and news writing, thrive under pressure and can produce multiple high-quality stories under tight deadlines in a newsroom-type environment.

News Editor

The News Editor is responsible for staff coordination and day-to-day writing, editing and securing of news, previews, reviews and features of major releases on the site with developers and publishers. These may include contacting press representatives to produce deeper news stories, tracking down exclusives, developing ideas for, producing & publishing featured articles across a variety of platforms and channels.

Successful candidates should be flexible and proactive in identifying solutions to issues while able to act autonomously in carrying out the roles and responsibilities outlined below with minimal oversight.

This is a telecommuting position with the expectation that you will be connected to the editorial team throughout the working day via Skype or similar IMs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

? Coordinate with the Editor-in-Chief and publisher to identify, chase down and secure first-class game-related stories for the website.
? Work closely with the Editor-in-Chief and publisher to help develop and maintain Gamer's editorial voice; and act as a consummate professional, passionate ambassador of the site to the gaming industry at large.
? Lead by example, assist in identifying and recruiting potential writers, contribute ideas for in-depth stories and features, mentor and train junior staff to ensure that their work is of the highest quality.
? Help ensure Gamer's editorial content is distributed via multiple social outlets and media partners.
? Attend and drive regular editorial meetings, participate in discussion on management direction, editorial issues and initiatives.
