CPS Security is seeking a Collections Specialist to work out of our corporate office in Gardena. Responsibilities include account reconciliation, collecting on past due accounts, researching and resolving invoice discrepancies.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
?Monitor and coordinate collections of multiple account clients.
?Review status of delinquent accounts and initiates collections action by contacting each account according to due date.
?Responsible for the collection of all delinquent accounts 30 days and older through interaction with customers and sales staff via telephone and written correspondence.
?Document client conversations and payment arrangements in Solomon Accounting System.
?Produce weekly reports via Solomon Accounting System to monitor delinquency trends.
?Prepares correspondence on delinquent accounts requiring special handling.
?Initiates appropriate follow-up action on mail returned as undeliverable.
?Researches disputed delinquent account balances. Corrects any errors, including misapplied payment, reversed late charges, direct deposit errors, and overpayments from insurance errors.
?Monitor stop notices to file Mechanic's Lien when warranted.
?Coordinate collection efforts with sales staff when needed.
?Review delinquency reports with Collections Manager on a weekly basis and determine course of action on problem accounts.
?Analyze aged accounts.
?Solve disputes.
?Manage credit hold accounts.
?Analyze customer credit history.
?Reconcile account balances.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
?Work on special projects and/or reports on an assigned basis
?Fax duplicate invoices to clients with releases when requested.
?Notify customer service of incomplete, incorrect, or expired certificates of insurance.
?Verify validity and status of pending general liability claims.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
?High school diploma or G.E.D.
?At least 2-4 years of collections experience in general accounting environment.
?Familiar with accounts receivable and billing processes

JOB SKILLS:
?Must have strong verbal, problem-solving and follow-up skills; and the ability to coordinate and perform several tasks simultaneously.
?Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
?A highly organized and detail-oriented professional who can work independently.
?A strong and clear writer, able to quickly and articulately prepare clear and appropriate correspondence and reports.
?Excellent computer skills. Highly proficient with MS Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) with the ability to learn programs quickly.
?Must be a problem solver and able to provide solutions to a variety of day-to-day problems.
?Must be a team player -- works well with others; understands the role each person plays in the organization and seeks assistance when needed.
