The purpose of the project is to increase/expand and enhance/improve substance abuse treatment and related recovery and re-entry services. The population of focus is; economically disadvantaged adult male offenders, ages 18 and older, who have been sentenced to at least 6 months in a correctional institution and are assessed with a substance use disorder and or a co-occurring disorder.

Specific duties include: data collection at baseline and 6 months post-baseline; data entry; data analysis & interpretation; data dissemination via conference presentation and manuscript preparation as needed.

Required qualifications: Graduate degree in public health, psychology or social/behavioral science. Must be able to clear background investigations and record checks.

Preferred qualifications: Experience with substance using populations, criminal justice populations, economically disadvantaged populations and co-occurring populations.

Local travel required.

Must attend at all required SAMHSA grantee meetings annually/bi-annually. Meetings are generally 3 days and held in the Eastern United States.

Assignment Length: 3 year contract
Level of Effort: Up to 20 hours per week
Compensation: Location: Long Beach, CA.
