Dalrymple Celebrates Groundbreaking for Novaspect's Mandan Business Center
Posted on 10/16/2012
Gov. Jack Dalrymple today helped break ground on a Mandan-based business center for Novaspect Holdings Inc., a company that supplies and services valves and other mechanical components for the state's oil industry and other industries.
The 20,000-square-foot building, under construction in the Mandan Industrial Park, will support Novaspect's North Dakota business expansion. Novaspect officials plan to have 12 employees operating from the Bismarck-Mandan area by the end of the year and about 30 employees within two years. The company's Mandan business center is expected to be completed in June 2013.
"This new business facility represents more jobs and opportunities for North Dakota," Gov. Jack Dalrymple said. "It is also a reflection of our positive business climate and our strong economy. I applaud Novaspect's commitment to North Dakota and to helping meet the needs of our energy industry."
Novaspect sells and services valves, instrumentation and computer systems that control flow rates, pressure and other industrial processes for a diverse customer base. The company's Mandan business center will serve as a sales center and house the components that is sells and services.
Joining Dalrymple for the groundbreaking were Sen. John Hoeven, Congressman Rick Berg, Mandan Mayor Arlyn Van Beek, Mike Franz, Novaspect's chief financial officer, and other local officials.

VAM USA to double technology center capabilities
In response to customer requests for new, innovative products and the qualification of existing product lines to new standards or well conditions, VAM USA is expanding its Connection Technology Center in Houston to 90,000 sq ft, doubling its R&D capacity.
VAM completed building construction in July, and all equipment will operational by the end of 2012. The recent building expansion is able to support additional equipment to ultimately triple the current R&D capacity.
At this facility, VAM connections for shale applications or projects for the Gulf of Mexico undergo the harshest full-scale tests: make and break, simulation of combined loads (tension or compression), bending, high temperatures and fatigue life. The center increases VAM’s ability to design, manufacture, inspect and test several premium connections at once.

Petrofac Houston training center focuses on emergency management
By Joanne Liou, editorial coordinator
Petrofac’s Houston training center has relocated to a new 7,000-sq-ft facility in the Energy Corridor in west Houston, adding about 34% additional training capability. Driven by demand from operators and drilling contractors, the facility has the capacity to train approximately 1,000 people annually in major emergency management, in addition to other course offerings in health, safety and assessor training. Tony Littler, Petrofac’s regional director of the Americas, said companies are looking to emergency management courses to help their crews know what to do if and when things go wrong.
The facility has four classrooms, two simulators and approximately 20 instructors supporting the emergency response and crisis management training, enabling Petrofac to run multiple courses at one time in different simulated models. Courses are accredited by IADC and OPITO, while a number of courses are specifically developed based on clients’ needs.
