Personal Care Assistant/Nurse Assistant
Provides various personal care and related paraprofessional services in accordance with an established plan of care. Provides for the personal needs and comfort of patients in their homes.

Essential Functions
? Performs personal care activities that assist the patient with activities of daily living which include (but are not limited to):
o Personal hygiene (assisting to bathroom or in using bedpan, bathing, care of mouth, skin and hair)
o Ambulation
o Transferring
o Eating
o Dressing
o Shaving
? Prepares meals and snacks according to instructions.
? Performs homemaking activities which include (but are not limited to):vacuuming, dusting, sweeping or mopping floors, doing dishes, changing bed linens, doing laundry and cleaning bathrooms.

Qualifications
? High school graduate or G.E.D certificate preferred.
? Six months experience as a Personal Care Assistant in healthcare (in homes or facilities).
? Successful completion of a state-approved Nurse Aide or Personal Care Assistant course; or currently enrolled in LVN or RN program.
? Current CPR certificate is recommended.
? Ability to read, write, speak and understand English as needed for the job.
? Possess a valid driver's license and have use of an insured automobile or access to adequate transportation for the job.
? This position requires 30-40 hours of basic care training.

Compensation for Personal Care Assistant/Nurse Assistant: $9.50 and up, depending on experience

Homemaker/Companion
A homemaker/companion provides for the maintenance of a safe and clean environment. Performs various housekeeping tasks, meal preparation and companionship activities for clients in their residences.

Essential Functions
? Provides companionship for the client. This includes accompanying client on walks, trips to social/recreational activities, assistance with hobbies, etc.
? Performs homemaking activities which include (but are not limited to): vacuuming, dusting, sweeping or mopping floors, doing dishes, changing bed linens, doing laundry and cleaning bathrooms.
? Prepares meals and snacks according to instructions. May shop for groceries.

Qualifications
? High school graduate or G.E.D certificate preferred.
? Six months experience as a Homemaker/Companion
? Completion of a written Competency Evaluation.
? Ability to read, write, speak and understand English as needed for the job.
? Possess a valid driver's license and have use of an insured automobile or access to adequate transportation for the job.

Compensation for Homemaker/Companion: $9.00 and up, depending on experience

We are a small, energetic L.A non-profit startup seeking a dynamic individual to join our development team. This internship is an excellent introduction to fundraising/ development and communications/messaging for an organization with a big mission: to transform the currently dysfunctional education-to-employment equation.

Gigniks addresses the absence of career guidance for underserved teens by giving them the skills to develop their own cool career video resource. We partner high schools with local sponsoring employers, bring in film graduates to teach a semester-long class in video production, then take students into the sponsor's workplace to interview employees on camera and get shots of them at work. Participants then edit the footage down into an engaging 3-minute profile, upload the finished video to our Vimeo career guidance channel (vimeo.com/channels/gigniks), and share it with their friends on social media.

The candidate should have background in at least one of the following: non-profit management, social entrepreneurship, fundraising, social media/marketing, communications, entertainment-education, business, writing

Primary duties and responsibilities include:
Research funding and sponsorships to support programs, organizational objectives and capacity building
Write and submit Letters of Inquiry, proposals, and grant reports
Help organize fundraising events
Help develop strategic development plan
Coordinate with donors

Qualified candidates will ideally possess the following:
Excellent writing, organizational and communication skills
Some experience in (or at least knowledge of) conventional fundraising, crowd/social media funding, event organizing
Personal initiative and independence
Capacity to proactively manage small fundraising projects
Ability to work as part of a team

Volunteers of America of Greater Los Angeles is a large, national not-for-profit organization founded in 1896. We provide a variety of social services to Los Angeles area communities such as Head Start programs, Upward Bound college prep programs, veterans' services, homeless shelters, low-income housing program as well as drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Through our Head Start and Early Head Start programs, we work with children (ages 2 – 5) and their families to provide the skills, confidence and stable home life necessary for a smooth transition into kindergarten and beyond. Head Start positions are generally Monday through Friday, 7:45 am to 4:15 pm (10-1/2 months per year). The Substitute Teacher works on an as-needed basis.

Responsibilities:

The Head Start Teacher Assistant assists teaching staff in instructing children and stimulating learning. This position assists in planning individual and group activities to stimulate learning according to the ages of the children. The Teacher is performs the following:
