AWESOME Online Resume Creator

For the past few months I have had a review of this AWESOME online resume creator inside my member’s area but finally decided that I can’t keep this one a secret. The first moment I saw this I thought it was a great way to get an advantage over other applicants, especially if you are a little creative and put some effort into it!

Check out the video to see what it can do and no doubt you will be just as impressed as I was. I have purchased and created my own online resume, even though I am no longer looking for a job. So rest assured, this is a real review from someone who has tried and tested the product.

I have done a little research into the company who built this because I wanted to see who the developers were to make sure it was worthy of a positive review. What I found was very interesting from a consumer’s point of view. The product was originally designed as a way for arts students to display their portfolio to their teachers and then future employers. But I believe they missed their mark because the uses for this online resume platform are much broader than that.

The people behind the product are a not-for-profit organisation who have only ever marketed the product to underprivileged communities who need assistance in gaining employment which is why the product comes with a dirt cheap price tag. Don’t let the price fool you though, there is certainly “more than meets the eye” when it comes to this product because it has a huge back end that makes its less obvious functions operate (such as its own built in tracking system that lets you know when and who has opened your resume).

VUMI is a real winner and it’s uses and features are far too many to list so perhaps it is best to just watch the video. In fact, the only complaint I did have was their video because it doesn’t do it justice. For those of you who are members, make sure you watch my videos about the online resume creator inside the member’s area as I cover in more detail about how I would use this awesome tool to its fullest potential.

U.S. FTC said to open probe of oil price-fixing after EU

An oil pump jack in motion. (AP Photo/Hasan Jamali)

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission opened a formal investigation into how prices of crude oil and petroleum-derived products are set, mirroring a European Union inquiry, two people familiar with the matter said.

The investigation, now in a preliminary stage, will probably broaden into a multi-jurisdictional affair like the inquiry into manipulation of the London interbank offered rate, or Libor, the people said. FTC investigators are reviewing the progress made by their European counterparts, the people said, asking not to be identified because the matter is confidential.

The FTC, which routinely monitors wholesale and retail gasoline prices in the U.S. to look for anticompetitive behavior, agreed with the Justice Department’s antitrust division to handle the probe, said the people. The assignment of the matter to the FTC instead of the Justice Department is an indication that U.S. regulators don’t suspect the conduct they’re scrutinizing is criminal, the people said.

The opening of the oil-price investigation in the U.S. is the latest in a growing number of simultaneous EU-U.S. inquiries into areas including Libor, standard essential patents and Internet search manipulation, as well as merger reviews in the music and airline industries. The extent to which regulators in each jurisdiction can collaborate with one another depends on whether the companies under review sign waivers allowing data about them to be shared.

Price Reporting

The probe will probably include agency-issued civil investigative demands, which are similar to subpoenas, as the FTC scrutinizes how price-reporting companies such as Platts, the energy news and data provider owned by McGraw Hill Financial Inc (MHFI)., help determine the cost of raw materials, the people said.

Platts publishes the Dated Brent benchmark that contributes to setting the price of more than half the world’s oil.

The FTC hasn’t contacted Platts, Kathleen Tanzy, spokeswoman for the New York-based company, said yesterday in an e-mail.

“We will fully cooperate with legislators and regulators to ensure the effective functioning of the oil markets and other physical commodities markets that we cover,” Tanzy said.

Peter Kaplan, a spokesman for the FTC, declined to comment on the investigation. Antoine Colombani, the spokesman for EU Competition Commissioner Joaquin Almunia in Brussels, declined to comment on the extent of the EU’s coordination with the FTC.

EU Probe

The EU oil probe, which extends to undisclosed crude-derived products and biofuels, underscores how pricing in some energy markets lacks the transparency of financial products such as stocks and U.S. corporate bonds. It also marks the third time global pricing benchmarks have drawn the regulators’ scrutiny in the past year following investigations into bank manipulation of the Libor, and ISDAFix, the benchmark for the $379 trillion swaps market.

Almunia, Europe’s top antitrust official, said May 28 if oil price manipulation did take place, it would have caused “huge” damage to consumers.

Last month, EU investigators searched the offices of Royal Dutch Shell Plc, Statoil ASA, BP Plc and Platts, and requested records from some of Europe’s biggest trading houses, including Vitol Group, Gunvor Group Ltd. and Glencore Xstrata Plc.

Platts’s Dated Brent crude assessment is based on the price of trades, bids and offers on four grades of North Sea crude and related contracts. Platts gathers information from traders through e-mails, phone calls, instant messages and Platts electronic system, called the eWindow. Then the company calculates the day’s price as of 4:30 p.m. London time.

Benchmark Price

That benchmark price affects the value of over-the-counter oil derivatives, Brent futures traded on the ICE Futures Europe Exchange in London, and cargoes of crude from Canada to Australia.

Platts also publishes thousands of daily assessments across multiple commodities, which are used to price gasoline, diesel, biofuels, natural gas, electricity and petrochemicals. The suspected violations are related to Platts’s price assessments for crude, refined products and biofuels, and may have been going on since 2002, Statoil said in a May 14 statement.

Bloomberg LP, the parent of Bloomberg News, competes with Platts and other companies in providing energy markets news and information.

Bogus Bids

Separately, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission is reviewing complaints of bogus bids and offers in the West Texas Intermediate crude-oil market, a practice known as “spoofing,” according to Bart Chilton, a commissioner.

Spoofing, which is illegal, involves bids or offers that are entered with the intent of canceling them before the trade is carried out. WTI, traded on CME Group Inc.’s New York Mercantile Exchange, is the world’s biggest energy-futures contract.

“I asked the staff to tell me if there’s been spoofing in the oil market over the past few days,” Chilton said yesterday during an interview in Chicago, after receiving more than half a dozen complaints from traders.

Supreme Court could consider suit to block sales of high-ethanol gas blend

The American Petroleum Institute, the oil industry’s chief lobbying group, has asked the Supreme Court to block sales of E15. The court could decide as soon as Monday whether to hear the ethanol case, which combines similar requests by groups representing refiners and car manufacturers.

Putting fuel with up to 15 percent ethanol into older cars and trucks “could leave millions of consumers with broken down cars and high repair bills,” said Bob Greco, a senior API official who has met with the White House on ethanol issues.

Oil industry loses legal battle against E15

A new study suggests climate changewill make current biofuel mandates too costly. (AP file photo/Charlie Neibergall)

The Supreme Court on Monday dealt a big blow to the oil industry, when it decided not to hear a legal challenge against the federal government’s decision to approve the sale of fuel containing 15 percent ethanol.

The decision not to hear the case — which was issued without comment Monday morning — was a defeat for the American Petroleum Institute and several other groups that have been vigorously fighting the Environmental Protection Agency’s 2010 approval of the E15 blend. Although the agency green-lighted the sale of E15 for cars and trucks made since 2007, the higher-ethanol blend is not authorized for older vehicles.

After the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia ruled in January that the API and more than a dozen other groups did not have standing to challenge the EPA’s limited approval of E15, the American Petroleum Institute and other organizations appealed to the Supreme Court.

Harry Ng, API vice president and general counsel, called the high court’s move “a big loss for consumers, for safety and for our environment.”

The oil industry argues that E15 has not been proved safe, there are high “misfueling” risks that could cause filling station owners to face liability when the fuel is inadvertently pumped into older cars and there is a limited market for the mix, especially since some automakers have warned drivers that using the fuel will void their warranty.

Ng said the EPA was “irresponsible” in approving E15, “even though government research showed potential infrastructure concerns at our nation’s gas stations that could lead to serious safety and environmental problems.”

Biofuel backers cheered the decision.

Tom Buis, the CEO of Growth Energy, which originally sought E15's approval, called the move “a true victory for the American biofuels industry” as well as consumers, the economy and the environment.

Bob Dinneen, the president of the Renewable Fuels Association, said the Supreme Court’s decision “ends a long and drawn out petroleum industry effort to derail the commercialization of E15.”

But while this legal fight may be over, the industry’s larger war against an eight-year-old law mandating the use of more ethanol and other alternative fuels is just beginning. The oil industry is furiously lobbying lawmakers to tinker with the 2005 renewable fuels standard, and, in some cases, repeal it altogether. At the same time, oil companies and industry trade groups are asking the EPA to use its authority to waive some of the requirements.

The Energy and Commerce Committee has begun a broad, bipartisan review of the renewable fuel standard, ahead of possible changes. It is set to hold a hearing on the issue Wednesday afternoon.

Some refiners say they have already reached a so-called “blend wall,” a threshold where adding the required volume of ethanol to gasoline supplies would result in ethanol blends exceeding the 10 percent cap approved for use in all vehicles. Because the RFS was established with target volumes — rather than percentages — a recent decline in gasoline use means that blend wall has arrived sooner than expected. The effects are different from some refiners; their individual obligations are determined by their share of the fuel market.

Renewable fuel supporters counter that the mandate was designed to drive innovation in the fuels market and force changes by refiners, automakers and motorists ultimately helping to wean the U.S. off foreign oil in exchange for domestically produced alternatives.
