Advanced Process Controls Engineer

Our major international client is looking to recruit an Advanced Process Controls Engineer.
As a member of the Advanced Control Group in Process Projects Controls Engineering team, the successful applicant will make sure that the existing advanced control systems/modules at Global Operations facilities are delivering the maximum financial benefits to the company. Through the development/implementation of new control strategies and information management systems. On request technical support may be provided to affiliated organisations within the European region and globally. The scope of the job will cover all the GO product lines: ASUs, Hycos, Chemicals, Pipeline systems, CO2, liquefiers.

The incumbent will troubleshoot advanced control problems and provide support to the European Global Operations plants focusing in the European facilities to ensure the best possible efficiency performance.

The job holder will contact with line managers, plant managers, process engineers and site based personnel. Also will keep contact with IT, Corporate Energy Group, Controllers, Business Account managers and Supply Chain.

The job demands someone with a high level of technical expertise probably indicated by a graduate qualification in Chemical Engineering and possibly a post-graduate qualification. You will have significant post-graduate experience in an appropriate operations, engineering or plant environment.

In addition following knowledge in: control systems, process engineering, software applications, plant dynamics, IT and control hardware systems, computer literacy will be an asset.

An understanding of equipment commissioning, maintenance and trouble shooting is required, as is a 'hands-on' approach and commitment to cope with rapidly changing priorities.

Must be fluent in Spanish & English. Good salary, package & benefits.

Project Controls Engineer - Calgary, Alberta

We are currently seeking experienced Project Controls Engineers. Working closely with one of the world Oil and Gas Majors are a seeking dynamic and motivated professionals looking to make there mark in our rapidly growing Canadian and International business.

Responsibilities

- Develop/administer owner's integrated project schedule addressing engineering, procurement, fabrication/construction, installation and startup/commissioning phases

- Review schedule for usefulness, logic, level of detail, input sources, timing, and consistency.

- Status and update all project activities.

- Review, upgrade as necessary, and approve the schedule control plan

- Develop/administer master cost tracking/forecasting template for assigned project

- Develop/update various Project Controls Progress indicators to assist the Project Manager in evaluation of project health and focus areas

- Ensure the Contractor's schedule and cost forecast assumptions are in alignment

- Reconcile committed costs to actual costs on a monthly basis

- Investigate cost inconsistencies and booked charges as required

- Establish and maintain project progress measurement systems for assigned projects

- Review and, where appropriate, endorse cost and schedule progress baselines and forecasts prepared by contractors

- Assist site management in developing/reviewing cost and schedule corrective action and recovery plans, and making sure needed actions/plans are implemented

- Review and endorse progress measures reported by the contractor

Skills / Experience Required

Engineering Degree and/or Certification in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Business Administration or equivalent experience. OIL and GAS experience is essential.
Project Controls experience including cost, planning and estimating exposure.
A high degree of skill in written and oral communications.
Versed with Planning principles and techniques and Primavera P6.
Knowledge of Project Controls principles, theories, concepts, practices, processes, and expectations with respect to project controls
Competence required in scheduling, resource loading and project planning including progress measurement systems, S-curves, and earned value systems.
Must be eligible to work in Canada
6-8 Years Experience in Oil and Gas Industry
Experience working on Oil Sands, Heavy Oil and Shale Gas projects.

Lead Subsea Controls Engineer

Our client, a large subsea and pipelines contractor are searching for a Lead Subsea Controls Engineer to join their team in Staines.

The requirement is for a Lead Subsea Controls Engineer who will work in the team as part of the overal Integrated Group on one of our major offshore and subsea design projects.

The job will be located in our London (Staines) office.

Roles & Responsibilities

The Engineer will be working within an active project team and would be required to take a senior role within the existing engineering Team.

The role will include:

-Preparation of preliminary equipment functional specifications.
-Preparation of technical notes reports and decision papers
-Ensuring compliance with project philosophies and operability requirements
-Development of testing, commissioning and installation strategies.
-Interfacing with client engineering team.
-Assist in reliability assessments
?Provide support to the preparation of ITT documentation.
-Liaise with vendor on behalf of client during procurement, manufacture and testing phases.

Experience Required

An engineer with experience in offshore Oil and Gas, preferably degree qualified and chartered with experience of the following:

-Deepwater developments
-Hydraulic and electrical distribution systems for subsea controls
-SCS equipment design and manufacture.
-Systems testing
-XT, manifold & umbilical design.
-Workover systems and operation.
-Topsides control interface and design (process control)
-SCS installation, offshore testing & commissioning

Project Controls Sheduler

Our client, a firm of consultants with experience in the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical sectors, has long term contracts to provide skilled Project Services and Contracts and Procurement Professionals globally to major International Oil Companies. They now seek a Project Controls / Construction Scheduler (with experience in the oil and gas industry) to work in Houston, Texas.
Responsibilities:- Coordinate assigned day to day activities and manage scheduling work load with contractors. Build CPM, logically driven construction schedules at various stages of the project life cycle. Specific emphasis is placed on Final Investment Decision (FID) and Issued For Construction (IFC) schedules. Analyze schedule logic, activity durations, constraints, float, resource loading, etc. Review critical path(s). Level resources as needed to support project constraints. The ability to link detailed engineering and construction schedules with Shell activities to build a complete integrated project schedule. Provide assurance on schedules submitted by contractors according to the Shell project guidelines. The ability to use prior project knowledge to build conceptual schedules is preferred. The ability to develop a schedule risk analysis component of the schedule assurance process. Participate in the interactive planning meetings for projects requesting final investment funding as part of the assurance activity. Understand and use the IPA scheduling metric tool to improve schedule predictability. Incorporate IPA recommendations regarding scheduling into current scheduling process. Help develop, maintain, and revise scheduling templates that incorporate all project phases. Help collect and report scheduling information quarterly to support development of the KPI stoplight charts. Perform analysis to track deltas between planned and actual dates and durations. Create a statistical understanding of planned data versus actual outcomes. Assist in progressing construction schedules in accordance with the approved progress measurement strategy.
Skills / Experience Required:- 5+ years working as a scheduling professional, a comprehensive understanding of construction techniques and practices, experience working in an operating facility, experience working with construction contractors, understanding of proven scheduling techniques and practices, Experience in earned value management and the ability to audit / validate construction progress, Basic understanding of Project Controls, Good people / networking skills. Rate (or salary if preferred) is very negotiable.

•Familiar with field development scenarios, umbilicals, Distribution and subsea Controls (D/H, E/H, MUX) design and installation scenarios both in shallow and deep water. Primarily in the GOM.


•Knowledgeable of subsea design codes (API, SAE, ICE, NORSOK, ISO).


•Able to demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving engineering problem efficiently and economically.

We are currently recruiting for a Manager or Project Controls to ensure a high profile power and infrastructure delivery organization to work.
If the functional operational lead for Project Controls &, you will be a crucial component in the continuing growth and success of the energy and process Division play by achieving a greater degree of integration of planning and cost control, along with a better focus on change and risk management in a variety of EPC contracts (reimbursable by to fixed price, lump sum).

The role
As a Manager or Project Controls, you will report to the commercial Director and responsible for:-

Controls, Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer

My client has an immediate need for a Controls, Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer to join a busy team of 10.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Controls, Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer to join one of the world's leading operators within the Oil & Gas sector.


Based in Hull, it will be your role to provide design assurance and cost estimate for new build equipment and maintenance support to existing laboratory to pilot plant scale equipment. The area of the business that you would be joining work on a portfolio of technologies which convert low cost hydrocarbons to power, fuels and other products.


The role will also involve providing discipline input to team for new build equipment from design, costing, installation and commissioning, also managing discipline maintenance and inspection activities to maximise availability of equipment. Also ensuring that equipment complies with relevant standards and manage maintenance activities from planning to execution.


Chosen candidates will be Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineer and professional membership / Chartership of a relevant engineering body is preferred. You should have demonstrable experience of DCS software based control systems and working in a multidisciplinary team within a research, operations, production or design environment. You will need to be a natural team player with excellent communication skills. Strong IT skills are a must. Experience of control systems such as DeltaV or Labview would be an advantage but not essential as training will be given.
