Senior Exploration Geoscientist required for a leading E&P company. This new role is being created due to significant expansion on the UK continental Shelf (Central and Southern North Sea) and efforts in value creation on the existing portfolio of fields and licenses.

Role function
*Contribute with geological/geophysical expertise in a wide variety of projects like exploration rounds, business development opportunities and field developments
*Perform seismic interpretation as part of integrated projects
*Initiate and participate in internal/external geological/geophysical studies like sequence stratigraphy, sedimentology, basin modelling, AvO and Inversion
*Contribute with strong regional geology understanding of the UKCS
*Champion and implement geological/geophysical technologies
*Participate in license meetings and work groups, and potentially in license committees
*Generate ideas for further growth and value creation

Candidate background / experience

*Geology or geophysics degree (or equivalent) at Msc/Phd level
*Experience from exploration projects, preferably as an operator

The successful candidate will have strong geophysical fundamentals with interpretation experience both in regional 2D & 3D seismic, the ability to conduct geophysical interpretations that integrate an understanding of the petroleum system elements, and support palaeographic interpretations as well as the proven ability to generate, prioritise and mature exploration inventory (ideas, leads, prospects), through to investment consideration.

You will be a skilled user with standard geological/geophysical software suites (e.g. Seisworks/Powerview, Geoprobe, Stratworks, Petrosys, and visualisation tools).

In this role you will be required to carry out; regional and semi-regional seismic interpretations, using workstations and Landmark based application suites; sequence strat evaluations; depth conversion, using seismic velocities and well velocities in complex overburdens and geological concept support. You will also be responsible for licence evaluations, new field acquisition evaluations and farm-in opportunity evaluations and recommendations. Some mentoring of junior staff and project phase leadership will also be expected


There may be some travel involved in this role, both within the UK and overseas


You'll ideally be degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant geophysical area with experience of technical problem solving, acquisitions and farm-ins and licence evaluations and applications. You'll ideally have some knowledge of AVO and rock physics and geocellular models.
