Seeking candidates that have had experience in either Unix or Linux systems administration for a Los Angeles based company. The candidate will need to demonstrate proficiency in in using BASH, SSH, SCP, CAT, GREP, MORE/LESS, VI(M) and MAN command line tools. The ability to operate in a computer environment devoid of a graphic interface and the willingness to learn new platforms under experienced supervision of the new platform. A personable individual who is able to communicate clearly and have patience when dealing with end-users is also a must. In addition some programming skills (entry level skills) are required in the C or C++ programming language as well as BASH scripting.
The position is for a technical support position on a hybrid Mac/BSD unix system with custom operating system extensions. The technical support duties is to initially screen level 1 technical support queries and issues from the level 2 and level 3 people. Eventually with a proven record you can move to level 2 support and be given other duties breaking new ground in the tech industry. During idle times you may also be requested to learn certain technologies and assist in some internal infrastructure support as well. You will also be asked to work on development projects, (having developer skills is necessary for this position).
The opportunity is to work for a smaller but not tiny company with a loose hierarchy. This allows for flexibility with both time and job roles that most corporates can not provide. Pay level is subject to demonstration of generic unix command line familiarity as well as end-user interaction skills. There are multiple positions open and so multiple candidates will be selected. The candidate that demonstrates the most technical skill and best customer service skills will be offered a management position after short amount of time.
