Wanted: Curious Copy Editor for Start-up Science Curriculum (Virtual)

BirdBrain Science is a web-based science curricula. Born in the classroom to fill the void between struggling students' literacy and curricular expectations; our goal is to make curriculum more easily digestible, culturally relevant, accessible, and fun for students to read. Our articles are written for elementary to high school students in a clear, fun, and witty manner.

What we want:
We're looking for an editor that believes in our mission, and would love to learn and improve something that is already awesome.

The job is primarily copy editing, but some degree of scientific knowledge/fact checking is also desired. We don't need a content editor, as much as a copy editor who's passionately curious about science. If this describes you, you're exactly what we're looking for.

What's in it for you:
- Pay per edited article.
- You'll undoubtedly learn new things as you read our articles
- Contribute to closing the achievement gap
- Work to build an affordable curriculum aimed to promote literacy growth in underserved populations
- Work remotely
- Work with people who care deeply about what they're doing

How to get this job:
Aside from everything stated above, we need you to be a wizard with words. You must be willing to re-read things over and over again to hone them into weapons of mass instruction. We want a final pair of eyes with a fresh perspective for our articles. You also must have a playful and intriguing writing style that jives with our articles.

In the text of an e-mail response to this ad:
1. Explain why you would want this job and detail your experience with science writing/education.
2. Include a 3-paragraph writing sample that is fun, clear, playful, and informative. The topic of your paragraph can be any topic in the field of Earth Science that piques your interest.
3. Paste your resume into the text of your e-mail (I will not open attachments).
